- This handwriting technique has been in use for a very long time.
- The is a visual element that teachers use to assist in teaching kids how to write.
- The handwriting CAT breaks each letter into 3 separate components the cat’s head, body and tail. This helps the child size the CAT, and also where to place it on the line.
- This technique is useful for teaching handwriting neatness, which includes the components of sizing, spacing and placement on the line. This is a visual aid the child can refer to, for monitoring their neatness, but also a way to explicitly teach writing neatness.
- In all the cases where teachers use this technique the CAT is drawn into the side of the book to assist the child with this writing technique. The CAT book has the CAT already printed into the side of the book and makes the teaching much easier for the teachers.

Cover my Books was founded in December of 2014 with the aim of providing a unique service to the parents of school going kids. We started out with covering and labelling of school stationery and grew from there to a full online stationery business.
In 2017 we launched the CAT exercise writing books that assist foundation phase learners with letter formation and spacing. These books are owned by Cover my Books, with registered Designs, Trademarks and Copyright, and we supply our customers nationally. These books have become the backbone of our business, and we have seen major growth in the need for learner assistance over the past couple of years.
Due to this growth and need, in 2024 Cover my Books decided to exclusively focus on the manufacture- and supply of CAT Books.
